Top Popular South Africans Who Prove You Don’t Need a Degree To Be Successful In Life

here used to be a time when not having a university degree meant that the possibility of you succeeding in life was pretty slim, but these days that’s far from the case

Now, we’re not for one second advising anybody to drop out of school: education is a privilege and those who are lucky enough to have the opportunity to pursue it should make the most of it.

However, sometimes you just don’t get the opportunity to finish your course (and sometimes you don’t even enrol at university) and you just have to make the most of the opportunities that life hands you instead.

Thankfully, there are several South African celebrities that you can look to for inspiration.
Here are a few stars that made it big despite not having a varsity qualification

7. Charlize Theron

Actress Charlize Theron was born and raised near Johannesburg, where she attended high school at the The National School of the Arts.

She dropped out and eventually made the big move to Hollywood.

 6. Cassper Nyovest

Nyovest dropped out of high school in 2006,  he said “I’m leaving school to become a rapper…”   left home and moved to Johannesburg. The following year, still at the age of 16, he was signed by the Motswako label “Impact Sounds”.

After two years without a release, he left to start a label of his own to no avail, he moved back home. Speaking to Move about being a dropout, he said: “Going to school wasn’t my path to follow. I don’t have time.”

He added that he really doesn’t need school for what he is doing right now. “I will go back to school maybe someday when I’m bored. I won’t go back right now.”
